Rez Run ® began as an idea sometime in 1999. As an avid runner and a follower of Christ, I often had to choose between my love for running and my commitment to my church. Most of the best running events are on Sunday. So sometime in 2000 I began to float the idea of combining my passion for running and my passion for Christ with people in the running community and with the people in my church.
     Friends from both worlds thought that I was crazy. The enthusiasm was underwhelming. But in running and in my faith journey, I have discovered that perseverence and persistance really do pay off. I somehow convinced the running comunity and my church (a small fraction of each) to help me organize and establish the first Rez Run ® on Easter morning in 2001.
     Our race is unique. It is an odd distance, roughly 3.5 miles, because the course was not measured correctly the first year (My Fault!). It is on Easter morning, which for folks who do and don't go to church, seems a little odd. The race is preceded by an Easter sunrise service and in recent years has provided breakfast at its conclusion.  

     In many ways we have become, "the little race that could". From our first year when we had about 70 runners until today when we expect more than 200 participants we have attempted to plan for excellence, to practice hospitality and generosity, and to proclaim our faith in the hope of Easter.
     Today Rez Run ® is not simply an idea - it is a reality. We hope that it combines the best of the running community and our faith community.
